8th International Puppet Theatre Festival of Kalamata
The 8th International Puppet Theatre Festival of Kalamata premieres on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The 8th International Puppet Theatre Festival of Kalamata will premiere on Saturday, October 12, 2024. With a rich program of performances over the course of almost ten days, until October 20, the local audience will have the opportunity to enjoy puppet theatre shows and more, featuring both Greek and international participants (from England, Poland, Spain, and Germany). For the 8th consecutive year, the International Puppet Theatre Festival of Kalamata continues to make its mark on the cultural scene of the Messinian capital, offering both children and adults the chance to “travel” through stories brought to life by puppets, to feel joy, reflect, become sensitized, learn, and be entertained. In addition to the performances, two workshops will be held: one on the creation and animation of Karagiozis shadow puppets, and the other on handmade marionettes.
The Festival’s Organizing Committee invites Primary and Secondary Education schools to enjoy the 9 performances scheduled in the morning as part of the Educational Zone, while in the afternoons and on weekends, audiences of all ages will have the chance to meet renowned puppet theatre masters through 11 different performances.
