An 8 Decade Family Tradition
The history of OINOPIGI begins in 1930, in the picturesque Ariochori of Messinia, when Panagiotis Poulimenos opens his own wine store. The aromas and flavors of the wine and must he sold marked the childhood of his sons, Konstantinos and Dimitris, who followed in their father’s footsteps in the early 1960s.
At that time, people bought must and stored it in barrels in their homes to make their own wine. Realizing the interest in wine production, the Poulimeni brothers built their own wine press in 1970.
In 1988, their business activity is modernized with the purchase of new equipment, allowing them to produce must for all the winegrowers of Messinia.
Taking a bold step for the season, they purchase a 30-ton tank to produce and sell their own wine. The quality of their wine exceeded all expectations, selling before the next harvest.
Demand grew rapidly, leading them to purchase a second 50-ton tank. By 2000, their annual production reached 1,000 tons of wine.
In 2002, Panagiotis Poulimenos, son of Constantinos, joined the company, bringing new ideas and energy.
The next decade is marked by a dynamic development course, with an emphasis on quality and modernization. The company gains market share in Greece and successfully exports to Cyprus and Germany.
In 2014, a new, privately owned production plant meets the specifications of a modern winery.
The history of OINOPIGI is a living testimony of dedication, passion and family tradition.
