Who we are
Green Land co-farming is a producer group that produces and exports Kalamata olive oil and olives. It is located in Sterna, Messinia, a small village 40 km northwest of Kalamata. Green Land co-farming has won many quality awards* in international competitions around the world, as well as the Sial Innovation Award for Kalamata oven olives in 2023. Our main principle is the production, standardization and distribution of our products in international markets through fair and equitable trade. All information about quality, origin, working conditions and environmental impact should be accessible to everyone.
For the past five years, the farm and print shop have been open to visitors from around the world from May to September. Visitors can see how olives are produced, visit the olive grove, the olive press and taste local food. The farm is located in the heart of the Messinian olive grove and the feeling of being part of this ancient tradition is unique.
Come visit us and explore our lifestyle. Join our team and let us guide you to our olive groves. Feel the experience of walking next to centuries-old olive trees, taste the fresh olive oil and Kalamon olives prepared with the local traditional recipe.
Come and let us show you our village with its beautiful cobbled square, come and walk through the narrow streets with the beautiful flower-paved courtyards. Take a stroll through the village’s olive groves. Learn about growing and harvesting. Meet the farmers and see how they work, learn about the different olive varieties in the area, how extra virgin olive oil and the famous Kalamata olive are produced. Try delicious local food based on oil and vegetables from our garden.
At a distance of 1.1 km from the farm is the Sterna Agricultural Cooperative. It was founded in 1982 by residents of Sterna and the surrounding villages. Today it is considered one of the largest olive mills in the region, where 500 producers from the surrounding area produce their olive oil and employs over 20 people seasonally and permanently. There one can watch the production process or the olive oil standardization process depending on the season. It is impressive how much space the large storage area takes up with the olive oil storage tanks. At the end of the tour, the courtyard of our house will be filled with music and a large wooden table will be laid with care, filled with local flavors and aromas. We are grateful for what we produce and proud of our roots. We want everyone who visits us to always feel welcomed as friends.
Our Food
The meal we offer to our guests represents traditional Greek gastronomy based on the most important ingredient: our olive oil. Take the opportunity to learn the history of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, enjoy a tasting and learn how to incorporate it into your kitchen.
For our guests, we carefully select excellent and tasty products from our land, as well as fresh ingredients from the village and the surrounding area which we always accompany with wine from small local wineries. Our garden will provide us with delicious vegetables and herbs, while in the large traditional oven in our yard we will bake fresh bread and prepare traditional meat and vegetables such as stuffed tomatoes and moussaka. Our taste journey will end with the yogurt we make at home accompanied by traditional spoon sweets.
