The Agros estate, a beautiful olive grove and Mediterranean garden, is located in Varakes, Messinia, just a few kilometers from Pylos and Methoni. You can visit the olive mill, the olive grove and the small botanical garden with the endemic aromatic herbs. Friends and visitors are welcome to discover the secrets of olive oil and aromatic herbs and seek memories of the aromas and flavors of the countryside that will last a lifetime. You will enjoy the lush garden and olive grove, while gaining knowledge about Greek botany and natural remedies. You will get to know the magical world of the “liquid gold” of Greece, olive oil, match it with different flavors and enjoy local delicacies and homemade sweets. You will also taste local wines and leave with the aftertaste of the Greek summer. Finally, there is a small shop where you can buy our Evonymon Extra Virgin Olive Oil and herbs produced and packaged in our facilities, as well as products from selected local producers.
We welcome guests with a cool or hot infusion of our herbs and a fruit juice. The tour begins with the presentation of our work and vision, the historical background of olive cultivation and olive oil production. Visitors have the opportunity to see how the olives are collected inside the olive grove itself, just as it is done during the harvest season. They will see up close the old millstones and the 19th century olive oil mill, as well as our small private modern oil mill where our award winning extra virgin olive oil is cold pressed. All steps of the process are explained. This is followed by an olive oil tasting and a discussion about health, beauty, the multiple benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and its pairing with food. We will learn how to distinguish a good olive oil, how to store and use it. Finally, guests sit in the garden to enjoy delicacies or do a tasting of local wines.
