Piano Concert | Maria Garzon
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 20:00, the Kalamata Municipal Conservatory presents the distinguished Spanish pianist Maria Garzon at the Concert Hall of the Kalamata Municipal Conservatory.
Maria Garzon will perform one of J.S. Bach’s most significant works, the Goldberg Variations.
The Goldberg Variations (Goldberg-Variationen), BWV 988, is a work by J.S. Bach, written for a harpsichord with two manuals. It consists of an Aria and thirty Variations and is considered today one of the finest examples of the variation technique. The work is named after the German harpsichord virtuoso, organist, and composer Johann Gottlieb Goldberg (1727–1756). It was published in 1741 as the fourth part of a series of Bach’s works for keyboard instruments, under the general title Keyboard Exercise, consisting of an Aria with diverse variations for a harpsichord with two manuals. The cover further describes it as a work intended for the spiritual delight of music lovers!
